Alexandra Palace Exhibition Centre, London

A multiple high level glass replacement program and full seal service to the Great Hall roof at the world famous Alexandra Palace Exhibition Centre, Park and Trust.

GR3 Commercial were contracted to replace 40No of the large double glazed units within this 100m long dual pitched, patent glazed roof as part of an ongoing program to maintain the roof and eventually replace all failing glass.

Both internal and external access was required in order to replace the glass 60' above the famous Great Hall. The works, including transportation of glass to roof level, were completed without the aid of mechanical access and a detailed program of approved methods and control measures were compiled and implemented by the GR3 Commercial Health & Safety Department.

Specialist rope access techniques were utilised in order to rectify all points of rainwater ingress within the entire roof and provide a full glazing system service. Guarantees were then provided against further ingress following over 10 years of leak problems.

The program of works was tailored around events and opening times in order to keep the BBC offices, Great Hall and Park operating as normal without disruption throughout the project.
